Frankly speaking

I don’t know how we got here. It’s been a long time coming, we all saw it, we knew it would happen, people told us, but why, why would we believe them. “For we have numerous natural resources ranging from coal to petroleum and so on, we are actually the best in agriculture, we even have the manpower to execute anything. Of course, we are the giants of Africa”. So our Fathers said.

How did Nigeria turn out to be this place where anything crazy can just happen, no one cares anymore. Things are that crazy that a man could tell another, “If you like kill yourself, highest we go drink zobo chop biscuit for your funeral”. Sounds funny, but most of them actually mean it. Everyone is just angry. You go out everyday and you feel this sadness behind the smile from a roadside seller, a hawker and they all pray that things will get better while praying for the country’s leader. But for some reason or the other, the president will still call everyone lazy (lazy youths).

How did Nigeria turn out to be this place where anyone can run for president, I mean people who obviously don’t have leadership skills. People who are meant to rest and let the younger generation bring fresh ideas to the table. Is it even a crime to have someone in their 40s lead us, someone like Obama of naija, male or female even, a young person? Even other aspirants are 70 years and above. Incomplete high school results but our president got into aso rock. I mean, no mathematics. How does he even know when figures are out of place?

As it is now anyone can bring in scam business from another country into Nigeria, get away with people’s money and the government won’t even know. They just packed custom officers at the borders and forgot that cyber security is also very important. Fraudulent creatures everywhere on the net waiting for their prey. Telecommunication companies do not even safeguard our info anymore and these predators use these medium to send messages and strike. Some text messages will even read, ”Reply yes to win #10,000,000,000 instantly. Please, How is that possible in this economy? And when a Johnny just come (JJC) replies, #100 will vanish from his account balance. Imagine doing this to 2000 JJCs a day.

But then again there is no job for the youths of the nation and they can’t even access loans to start up cool businesses because they don’t have a salary job or high credit score. As it is now, nobody cares anymore if you have legit cash or not, money is money. The situation of things in the country has changed it’s citizens, it might have changed life in general.

Please get your permanent voter’s card (PVC), At least we can start from there.
